Comparison of NIMROD and BOUT++ simulations for KSTAR

NIMROD and BOUT++ results are compared for the case gs11-t00-t073 that is generated using the procedure described in the previous post. The growth rates computed using the NIMROD and BOUT++ codes are compared below.
Normalized growth rates computed using the NIMROD and BOUT++ codes
The NIMROD results and BOUT++ results that are shown as blue curve are run with S=10^8 . However, the constant resistivity profile is used in these simulations. There are several conclusions from these and other NIMROD/BOUT++ comparison simulations:

  1. The resistivity profiles and a proper account for the diamagnetic effects are important;
  2. The parallel viscosity effects have relatively weak effect on the ELM dynamics at least during a linear stage of a crash.
